Pickleball Active Play Pass: Pickleball might be a strange name, but it's a ton of fun! Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. We always welcome new players. Come give it a try! We have equipment on-site that can be used if you need it. This is great exercise and lots of fun for all ages!

The program will teach the fundamentals of lacrosse in a fun, positive and safe environment. This will be a non-contact, non-equipment program. Players will be broken out into groups and rotate as a team between 3-4 teaching stations each week. Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching shooting, passing, catching, cradling, stick handling and running and agility.Sticks and Balls will be provided.Each participant receives a t-shirt.

Instructor: P&R StaffLearn the basic archery skills and techniques from a USA Archery Certified Instructor. Participants will learn archery safety, equipment, shooting form, and shooting etiquette while improving shot accuracy and consistency in this five session program. Build Upper Body Strength- Challenge the Mind- Improve Concentration- Enhance Self-Confidence- Relax the Spirit.All necessary equipment is provided. The class uses compound bows.The Youth Archery Sessions are a 4-week program.The Discovery Archery Classes are 1-day, 90 minute programs.

Instructors: Anna Schaal and Liz Burdette, who are both BICP and PIMBA certified mountain bike instructors.  Do you enjoy riding your mountain bike but sometimes have difficulty with trail obstacles? Do you lack the confidence to tackle new trail challenges? Are you looking to find more women to ride with and to become a stronger, safer rider? If so, this 4-week beginner mountain biking series is for you!   We will break down technical skills and take these to the trail to conquer challenges with support and encouragement. Riders will progress to reach their desired goals by building new bike skills with increased confidence. Fundamental elements will be emphasized, including neutral and ready position, bike body separation, pedal position, trail scanning, braking, steering and speed, gearing and cadence,  timing and coordination. Instructors: Anna Schaal and Liz Burdette, who are both BICP and PIMBA certified mountain bike instructors.  Do you enjoy riding your mountain bike but sometimes have difficulty with trail obstacles? Do you lack the confidence to tackle new trail challenges? Are you looking to find more women to ride with and to become a stronger, safer rider? If so, this 4-week beginner mountain biking series is for you!   We will break down technical skills and take these to the trail to conquer challenges with support and encouragement. Riders will progress to reach their desired goals by building new bike skills with increased confidence. Fundamental elements will be emphasized, including neutral and ready position, bike body separation, pedal position, trail scanning, braking, steering and speed, gearing and cadence,  timing and coordination. Pickleball Active Play Pass: Pickleball might be a strange name, but it's a ton of fun! Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. We always welcome new players. Come give it a try! We have equipment on-site that can be used if you need it. This is great exercise and lots of fun for all ages!

If so, this 4-week beginner mountain biking series is for you!   We will break down technical skills and take these to the trail to conquer challenges with support and encouragement. Riders will progress to reach their desired goals by building new bike skills with increased confidence. Fundamental elements will be emphasized, including neutral and ready position, bike body separation, pedal position, trail scanning, braking, steering and speed, gearing and cadence,  timing and coordination. You will develop essential tools to expand your riding ability in the future as well as build a new community of like-minded women mountain bike riders. What do you need to participate? Pickleball Active Play Pass: Pickleball might be a strange name, but it's a ton of fun! Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. We always welcome new players. Come give it a try! We have equipment on-site that can be used if you need it. This is great exercise and lots of fun for all ages!

If you long for the spotlight or are just interested in being in a show, Broadway Ventures will be a transformative experience where you discover your passions, talents, and what it takes to perform a musical!  Due to the intensity of performing a musical in two weeks, BroadwayVentures is now an audition based program. Unfortunately, that means that not every student who auditions will be accepted into the program regardless of past participation in BroadwayVentures. New to this season, students interested in auditioning will be asked to sign-up on the Rec. Department website. Payment of tuition will not be required at this time. Additionally, you are asked to perform 1 (one) memorized monologue, no more than 2 minutes long.After auditions conclude, the director will email you at the address you provided during registration and inform you if you have been accepted into the program. Everyone is emailed, regardless of whether they are accepted or not. Students accepted into BroadwayVentures will then be invited to callbacks to audition for specific roles in our production. After students audition, they are free to leave. They do not need to wait until everyone has auditioned.  CALLBACKS: Callbacks will be held Monday May 20th at 5pm inside the Hartford High School auditorium and is open to all students accepted into BroadwayVentures. Performers will be asked to sing songs from Mamma Mia! Sheet music provided below. Paper copies are available upon request. Performers will sing to a pre-recorded backing-track, which will be found below soon. Performers will also be asked to read for a selected character. Callback sides are provided below. Paper copies are available upon request. The Production Team would like performers to be as prepared as possible for callbacks so please start learning and memorizing the songs and sides provided! Callbacks tend to run late, but we are hoping to have everything wrapped up no later that 9pm.  RECEIVING PARTS:Students will be asked to attend a BroadwayVentures Information Meeting at one of the dates listed below. Here, students and parents will be provided all the necessary information needed for successful participation in the program. In addition to receiving scripts and program materials, students will be asked to sign a contract, securing their place in the program. Once contracts are signed, students will no longer be able to drop participation in the program.  Students from out of state or who are unable to pick up their materials can make arrangements with Brycen via email. Instructors: Anna Schaal and Liz Burdette, who are both BICP and PIMBA certified mountain bike instructors.  Do you enjoy riding your mountain bike but sometimes have difficulty with trail obstacles? Do you lack the confidence to tackle new trail challenges? Are you looking to find more women to ride with and to become a stronger, safer rider? If so, this 4-week beginner mountain biking series is for you!   We will break down technical skills and take these to the trail to conquer challenges with support and encouragement. Riders will progress to reach their desired goals by building new bike skills with increased confidence. Fundamental elements will be emphasized, including neutral and ready position, bike body separation, pedal position, trail scanning, braking, steering and speed, gearing and cadence,  timing and coordination. The Little Hitters program is the perfect introduction to baseball and softball for your young slugger! The Little Hitters program is designed to develop skills including hitting, catching, throwing, and base running. Using age-appropriate equipment, children will learn the fundamentals and rules of the game in a safe and structured environment. Each session consists of a series of fun games, and activities that encourage skill development, teamwork, and most importantly, fun! Participants need to bring their own glove and a water bottle to practice.COACHING: Coaches are needed at all teams. If you are available and/or willing please email Jay McDonough, jmcdonough@hartford-vt.org. You will be asked to coach your child’s team. No experience necessary just enthusiasm and a desire to work with youth. Your help is appreciated.No practice: 5/25

Hartford Youth Lacrosse Club (HYLC)Participants must first register with www.usalacrosse.org  (Fee is $35) prior to registration with Hartford RecAll Players:  Must provide their own equipmentBoys: Helmet, stick, gloves, shoulder pads, athletic protective cup, mouthguard and cleatsGirls: Goggles, stick, mouthguard, and cleatsRegistration Process:Step 1 - Register your player(s) at www.usalacrosse.org. You will need this US Lacrosse # to register with HYLC. (Fee is $35)Step 2 - Register your player(s) at the Hartford Parks & Recreation Department.  Online is http://www.hartfordrec.com or in person at the Town Hall, 1st Floor.  Fee: $110 Residents,  $130 for Non-Residents) Registration:Registration starts on February 2nd and closes on Wednesday, March 15th. *Please register early to ensure a space. There will be a delay between submission of registrations, processing, and confirmation.  Please expect a one week processing time.  Participation will not be allowed until all registrations are in order.  If you are in a financial hardship, Scholarships are available.  Please reach out to hartfordyouthlax@gmail.com for more information.*The combined USA Lacrosse & Hartford Recreation Department Fees provide valuable insurance/benefits and cover the costs associated with field equipment and referees. Lacrosse has a very short window to fit in games. Games for any team can and will be held on any weeknight or weekend day, which may include Holidays.
